How to get joomla running on sourceforge Print E-mail

This has nothing to do with tcpfile, but here are some tips...

I used this guide to get it running:

http://dissect.sourceforge.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=42&Itemid=55

http://michaelcarden.net/blog/?p=64

So this will get joomla up and running. You will still get thrown out of the admin session sometimes, and it can be extremely slow depending on the day but it works all in all ok.

So here is an addition to that guide: How to install a Module on a joomla on sourceforge, respectively how to install a module manually on any joomla where the joomla installer does not work.

I managed to get a quotes extension running (right side under did you know) by following these steps:

  1. I installed joomla on my localhost server (xampp, but does not matter which one)
  2. I installed the module there by using the built in module system, just upload the zip in the admin panel and click Install.
  3. Now check in your joomla directory (from the file explorer, not the browser) for new files, and upload the files that were recently modified on your hard drive up to the sourceforge webspace.
  4. And this is the trick: Search in the mysql database in the right table for the module entry. Modules are in the modules table, and the entry for the most recently installed module should be the last one. Now export this entry in phpmyadmin on your localhost and send it again over the phpmyadmin interface from sourceforge.
  5. Now you have to look under Site modules in the admin panel, and there it should be listed.

This worked with one simple module. It might work with mambots and components too. I dont know if this will work with more complex modules.

Hopefully this will help someone else :)
